BRUTTIUM. Kroton. Circa 480-430 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 7.83 g, 10 h). ϘΡΟ Tripod with three handles and the legs ending in lion's paws; to right, crane standing to left. Rev. Incuse tripod; rayed border. HN III 2104. SNG ANS 305 var. Nicely toned. Traces of overstriking on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1970s.

This coin was overstruck on a didrachm of Gela, with parts of the undertype still visible on the obverse.
